Posted February 24, 2018 11:32:25 Edmonton Oilers goaltender Kasperin Kapanens Stanley Cup win is the third time in four years he has won the Cup for his team.
Kapanen has now won the trophy twice and he has also won the Art Ross in 2010.
Kapanes trophy is a symbol of hockey in the city of Edmonton.
“I was looking at my phone, I was thinking, I guess I’ve won something too, so I just thought about it,” Kapanenos coach Travis Green said.
“And then I just went into the dressing room and looked at him and said ‘what’s your name?’
And he said ‘Kasperin’.
So that’s kind of the icing on the cake.”
Kapanens teammates Anton Khudobin and Connor McDavid were on hand to take the trophy and he thanked them.
“That was the most beautiful thing,” he said.
We have a lot of pride in this team.””
This is a special trophy and it’s something that you cherish.
We have a lot of pride in this team.”
Green said he was proud to have his goalie win the Stanley Cup again.
“You never really get to do that.
You never win it twice in a row.
That’s really rare,” he added.
Kaspans first Stanley Cup victory came in 2015, when he made 32 saves to help the Oilers beat the Detroit Red Wings.”
It’s really exciting for him.”
