Nepal has sent a warning to tourists to be careful when hiking through the Himalayan mountains after a man was killed in an avalanche.
The man, identified as Jadhav Singh, was found dead by the side of a road in the village of Piyushguri in the Kathmandu district of the country’s eastern region of Ladakh.
He was a resident of a nearby village who had gone out on a bike to cross the mountain on a motorbike, the district administration said.
The Himalayan mountain range between India and Nepal, the world’s highest and third-highest, has been hit by several avalanche events in recent years, including one in the same area in 2014 that killed six people.
